i think the catholics have a great sense of humor!

the other day my 10yo started learning the intro to tom petty’s free fallin’.  so we’ve been playing it in the car as we drive around our (what feels like) million miles a week.  my 5yo is getting into it and is singing along with us.  the chorus is the most fun because we sing it at the top of our lungs, as it should be.

but now i’m wondering about the vampires walkin’ through the valley moving west down ventura boulevard…

…i need escape before i fall asleep so i’m on a fiction kick right now. but…
…i am trying to finish up a book that is the last in a popular series. i’m having a terrible time getting through this one and as much as it irks me, i may just have to quit.
…it’s time for robotics again for my oldest, which means an intense 6 weeks up until game day.
…i’m dealing with some anger at my father.
…i think it’s going to be very difficult to find my mom a place to live around here that she can afford (related to prior thought).
…i went to the local high school to register my son for the psat yesterday. it was homecoming day and i hit it at a class change. i think some of the girls had to wear back supports to carry those mums. just kidding about that part, but they seriously had straps that either went around their necks or over their shoulders to hold these monsters up. i couldn’t help wondering how much they cost, and i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more than my weekly grocery budget.

…i’m loving this cooler weather and look forward to my electric bill reflecting it.
…i’m not optimistic that my freezer will be okay after the thaw last week. it now has an odor that is probably in the insulation and i’m pretty sure we can’t fix that. it’s a bummer because the freezer works great. i’ve had it for 14 years! i have to adjust my shopping due to less freezer space.
…which reminds me that i need to plan our meals for the upcoming week and better get to it.

after my husband went out the door for work, he came back in to tell me something was wrong with the big freezer in the garage.  i think one of my sons left the door open last night when putting away the ice cream.  (we had darth malts from the star wars cookbook, lol).

the food was cool.  meat was thawed so i’ve cooked the chicken that was in there.  the rest is in the fridge waiting its turn today.  i’ve got 14 burger patties and a turkey to cook (turkey is still partially frozen so maybe i’ll do it tomorrow).  i did lose some things, but not a whole lot.  the meat was the most dollars worth so if i can cook it and use it this week then it won’t be too painful.

now i’ve got to figure out if the freezer is okay because it was doing some weird stuff when i got it running again.  a gfci had tripped, too.   i hope the  compressor didn’t burn out trying to keep cool with the door open.  anyway, i’ll be firing up the grill in awhile - come on over!
